People ask about our numbers a lot, so here's the honest version: a rating is one person's summary of many hours, not a scientific measurement.

We weigh how a game feels to play over how it looks in screenshots. A gorgeous game with clunky controls will score lower than a plain one that's a joy in the hand. Fun is the currency here.

We also factor in respect for your time. Games that nag, interrupt, or pad themselves out get marked down, because we think that matters more than most reviewers admit.

So take the number as a starting point and read the words around it. That's where the real review lives.
